* All eblast submissions can be entered into the
Community Calander or the Dot Board on-line.
Making it easier for you to create content. You can
post flyers, photos, comments, etc.
* All content contributors must be registered users
on the new community webite. It is very easy to
create a personal, civic or organization profile.
If you have any questions, our Help Desk will
be available to you Monday thru Friday from 11:00 -
3:00 p.m. by phone at 617-474-1422 or

Community trainings and neighborhood launches will

THIS WEEK's: Dotlight
City Spotlights
CITY SPOTLIGHTS is a year-long initiative that
engages Boston communities in an exploration and
celebration of their neighborhood through the
performing arts. The program will culminate in a
presentation at the Citi Shubert Theatre on Friday,
May 11, 2007 that showcases ensemble
performances and some of the best performing arts
groups from each neighborhood.
February 16 - Final Call for Adults, Youth, and
Groups
Tell Dorchester's story! Calling Performing Arts
Groups and Individuals from Chinatown, Dorchester,
East Boston and Mattapan
are invited to apply to perform on the Citi Shubert
Stage at the City Spotlights final event on Friday,
May 11, 2007.

Dotlight is your community garden full of important
information, resources, opportunities and events. We
provide the soil and you help to provide the content
that seeds the soil to help build a stronger
community.
Features:
Dot Board: The Dot Board is a
community bulletin board where you can post all
kinds of information about what's happening in the
neighborhood. Events should be posted to the
calendar but just about anything else can go here.
Organizations can post announcements of new
programs and activities for youth and families and
employment, volunteer, and training opportunities.
Anyone can post classified ad, a restaurant review, a
tip for how to avoid getting caught in Dot Ave
traffic... anything about Dorchester. Community
Calendar: Use this section to view events and
happenings in Dorchester and plan your week!
Dorchester Blogs: A blog is a user-
generated content where entries are made in journal
style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.
Blogs: Blogs often provide commentary or
news on a particular subject, such as food, politics,
or local news; some function as more personal online
diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and
links to other blogs, web pages, and other media

St. Marks Area Main Street Presents Oscars on
the Avenue Feb. 25
St. Marks Area Main Street (SMAMS), a leading
community economic development organization on
Dorchesters Dorchester Avenue, will present Oscars
on the Avenue an Academy Awards night
fundraiser/party on Sunday, Feb. 25, 8 12 p.m.,
at the Ashmont Grill, 555 Talbot Ave., Dorchester (at
Dorchester Ave., across from Ashmont Station).
The evening will benefit SMAMS work revitalizing the
Dorchester Ave. business district in the Ashmont
Station area. Guests will enjoy the Grills superb hors
doeuvres; Jeopardy champion Gerry Wagget will quiz
the crowd on movie trivia; Suffolk County Sheriff
Andrea Cabral will lead a live auction; and Bob
Wahlberg, who played in Mystic River, may drop in for
a visit. Red Carpet Attire is suggested.
Tickets are $75 in advance, $90 at the door.

Heart Healthy Event will be held at the YMCA from 9

documentary The Hidden Epidemic: Heart Disease in

Bay State Banner and host of WGBHs Basic Black.

February 9- Book Reading & Discussion with
author Amber Madison To kick-off Safe Love,
the
Dorchester Youth Council is hosting a Respect
Yourself, Check Yourself Book Read and Discussion
with Amber Madison, a 23 year old author who wrote
Hooking Up: A Girls all out Guide to
Sex and Sexuality is coming to Dorchester! As a
precursor discussion to the 3rd Annual Safe Love
Event, Amber will be joining the Dorchester Youth
Council, other interested teens for a book
discussion. Madison will be reading from her open
and honest book and answering questions from young
adults. A member of Planned Parenthood medical
staff will also be present to answer questions. The
event will take place from 5:30PM-7PM - at the
Great Hall (6 Norflok St) Codman Square. For more

3rd Annual Safe Love Event!
Come join the Dorchester Youth Council and
hundreds
of Boston teens in celebrating and promoting healthy
relationships and healthy lifestyle choices.
Safe Love Dorchester will take place on Saturday
February 10th from 6-10pm at the Dorchester House
(1353 Dorchester Avenue) The night will consist of
healthy lifestyle resources, music, tons of give-
aways, and of course, dancing! The Youth Council
is currently recruiting organizations to provide
interactive resources for teens, volunteers, and
