Greetings!,
On April 28, Boston's Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced an initiative to
"Grow Boston Greener" with the goal of planting 100,000 trees by the year
2020. To meet this challenge-and it's a big one-the city is partnering
with Boston's Urban Forest Coalition and enlisting the assistance of
thousands of volunteers.
Finding individuals and organizations willing to plant trees is easy.
Determining what and where to plant, and ensuring adequate water and care,
add complexity to the task. The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, in
partnership with Boston's Urban Forest Coalition, presents a series of
lectures to help make the greening efforts informed, strategic, and, as a
result, successful.
Let's get growing!
Learn more about urban trees and what you can do to contribute to this
historic effort.
