RE: A Residential Planting Workshop Event!
GBG will be holding a workshop for residents interested in learning
more about Grow Boston Greener (GBG) and obtaining a free tree for
their yards. The workshop will include a brief presentation on GBG,
the benefits of trees, how to plant a tree, and how to care for a
tree. This is a great opportunity to learn more about trees and how a
tree can benefit your home, as well as to learn more about GBG and
other planting programs and volunteering opportunities you may wish to
be involved in.
Workshop details
DATE: Saturday September 22, 2007
TIME: 9:30-12:30
LOCATION: Codman Square Library, 690 Washington Street, Dorchester, MA
02124
IMPORTANT:
* While everyone interested is welcome to attend, trees will only be
provided to individuals who want a tree for their YARD. We do not
have the ability to provide street trees (a tree that is near the
street or on the sidewalk and not on your property). If you want a
tree street tree, have an empty tree pit (a spot that used to have
a tree), or have a nearby street tree that needs attention please
contact Boston?s Parks Department. It is the City?s responsibility
to fill empty tree pits and plant new street trees and the Parks
Department will get to you as soon as they are able to.
* Caring for a new tree is very important. GBG will provide you with
a tree and assist with delivery and planting as needed, but you
will be responsible for all tree care and maintenance. New trees
must be watered twice a week, 5 gallons at a time, for 3 years
during the growing season. We will be checking up on trees to add
them to our database and count them towards the 100,000 tree goal!
We look forward to working with you this fall. Thank you for you
interest in Grow Boston Greener and increasing Boston?s tree canopy
cover!
Spaces are available on a first come first serve basis. Please RSVP to
