As mentioned in the latest DEHC newsletter there is a new
“Grow Boston Greener Initiative” -
please take a look at the attached details about the
upcoming free urban tree lecture series
at Franklin Park and register now!
The City of Boston, the Boston Urban Forest Coalition, and
the U.S. Forest Service have teamed up to get serious about
planting trees. In April 2007, Mayor Menino announced an
initiative to “Grow Boston Greener” with the goal of
planting 100,000 trees by the year 2020. In an effort to
support this ambitious goal, The Arnold Arboretum of
Harvard University, in partnership with the Boston Urban
Forest Coalition, will present a series of lectures designed to
to provide volunteers with the information and tools to help
make this goal a reality.
Topics:
The Roots of Community: How Trees & Greenery Contribute to Society—–Weds
Oct 10
It Takes a Village: Caring for the Urban Forest—Mon. Oct 22
Branching Out: Biodiversity in the Urban Forest—Weds, Nov 14
Lectures take place 6:30-8:30 pm, in the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse.
All of the lectures are free, but advance registration is
required. Call 617.524.1718 x160 to register.
