You may recognize Featured Speaker Tom Wessels' name from his highly
acclaimed and excitedly debated works such as The Myth of Progress: Toward a
Sustainable Future, or Reading the Forested Landscape: A Natural History of
New England. Perhaps you've attended one of his workshops. In addition to
writing, Tom Wessels conducts workshops on the natural history of the
landscape and is a professor of ecology and the founding director of the
masters degree program in conservation biology at Antioch University New
England in New Hampshire. Tom Wessels is also former chair of the Robert and
Patricia Switzer Foundation which fosters environmental leadership, and
serves as a consultant to the Rain Forest Alliance's SmartWood Green
Certification Program. We've invited Tom Wessels to speak about The Myth,
especially.
In addition to Tom Wessels' presentation, NepRWA Executive Director Ian
Cooke will provide an overview of NepRWA's activities over the past year and
describe plans for the next. We will hold a very brief business meeting, and
there will be a raffle for a Kayak from Eastern Mountain Sports-Canton (the
PERCEPTION Prodigy 10 Kayak)!
