Support Senate Bill 1230
What: Lead Bill Hearing
Where: State House, Boston, (room tbd)
When: Tuesday, March 11th, (time tbd)
Lower the amount of lead in a child’s blood that will trigger a mandatory
inspection of a child’s home, but it does not affect when a unit must be
made lead safe.
Eliminates a loophole in the law that allows a seller to check-off the “I
don’t know” box on the disclosure form even when a seller may have reason
to believe that lead is present in the house.
Creates “Lead Free Certification” when a property no longer contains lead.
Requires that all renovations in properties constructed before 1978 SHALL
practice lead safe work practices. Unsafe renovations are the cause for
the most severe lead poisoning cases currently.
Eliminates a provision in the current lead law that “grandfathered” units
that were abated in accordance with outdated standards.
